Live oak hybridizes with dwarf live oak, swamp white oak (Q. bicolor),
Durand oak (Q. durandi), overcup oak (Q. lyrata), bur oak (Q.
macrocarpa), and post oak (Q. stellata) [

Live oak is a common dominant in maritime forests and on hammocks
bordering coastal and inland marshes.
